Biblical Counseling

Biblical Counseling is a spiritual process that relies fully upon the sufficiency of God’s Word and the working of the Holy Spirit as the transformational elements of change. We believe God’s Word is fully sufficient for the counseling task and vastly superior secular methods of support. The apostle Paul wrote:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

Therefore, any position of support, counsel, training, discipline, or teaching should be grounded in the inspired Word of God. We believe the Scriptures provide a template that defines normal and abnormal behavior. Humans operate and function at the optimum when they are aligned with God’s principles of order and structure. Anything outside His order places one in discord with the Holy Spirit and will produce spiritual, functional, and relational consequences.

    Individual, marital, and family counseling are available by appointment and is conducted through two churches in South Alabama and Northwest Florida.

  • Cost
    Since biblical counseling is a process of ministry and discipleship rather than a secular mental health service, BCI does not participate in insurance billing, nor do we render mental health diagnoses. Instead, our services are compensated through donations to our ministry ranging between $75.00 and $150.00 per hour, depending upon circumstance and the counselee’s financial capacities.
  • Local and Distant Counselees Served
    Many travel from outside the Southeast to have counseling through extended intensive sessions. Typically, counselees come to Alabama or Florida and are seen two to three hours per day for three to five days. This is followed by online counseling as needed and/or follow- up local meetings at a later time.

Online Biblical Counseling and Discipleship

  • Services Available
    Individual and marital counseling are available through online support, when appropriate. We do not recommend this venue for families beyond the married couple or for children and adolescents. This form of discipleship requires a high level of motivation individual study and prayer between meetings.

Consultation

  • Available Services
    Consultation is available for individual counselors seeking supervision and training; churches; schools; counseling ministries; and other para-church ministries. Areas of support include: Case Supervision Biblical Counselor Training Ministry Development Staff Recruitment and Retention Conflict Resolution and Peacemaker Activities Establishment of Counseling Ministries
  • On Site and Online Services
    Consultation is available on site or online depending upon the nature and scope of the consultation.

  • Cost
    Online Consultation is offered at the set fee of $150.00 per hour. On Site Consultation is negotiated at a daily rate depending on scope and duration of the consultation and other expenses required to be on site with the facility and/or ministry (i.e. travel, lodging, etc.).
